BIVA - Amendment

After the introduction of the new BIVA test at the end of April it had become obvious that issues were occurring with finished builds that didn't comply with the new EC43 only glass specifications. Currently an amnesty, for a period of 12 months, been granted to allow current projects to be completed without the need for purchases of replacement glazing.

It is possible to obtain flat glass, made to pattern in this country that will meet the new specification however ACE is concerned that long term the EC43 spec will create issues for builds based on productions cars that have curved glass that do not meet this specification, especially on American imports that would not carry any form of EC mark.

We are currently in contact with Department for Transport to attempt to negotiate a longer term exemption for such vehicles.
