London Emission Zone

This piece of flagship legislation currently only applies to vehicles over 3.5 tons and older than 2001 but is going to be extended by 2012.

In October 2010, lighter goods and commercial passenger vehicles will come into the scheme, with a charge of ONLY £100 per day ! When this occurs, several groups of  'private' vehicles will become chargeable, most notably Land Rovers that were originally registered as ‘utility’ vehicles, but also camper vans and mini-buses.

Something to watch that older vehicles aren’t added to the list of banned vehicles effectively precluding the use of Historic vehicles from London. How long before this money earner spreads to larger cities ?
