Continuous Insurance Enforcement

Uninsured driving

The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced a package of measures to crack down on the estimated 2m motorists on our roads driving without insurance.

The measures, due to come into force during 2009 bring in a structure of penalties for those who ignore official reminders that their insurance is due.
These range from fines and penalty points through to seizure and destruction of vehicles.

Provisions are contained in the measures where a vehicle has a SORN declaration; these will not need to be insured for road risks.
These provisions also apply to vehicles that were not taxed before SORN was enacted and are still not taxed.

Make sure your documents are up to date.
